Prayer Walk

Details
This December, instead of gathering in person for our monthly Praise & Prayer night, we’re inviting our whole church family to take worship and intercession into our own streets, neighbourhoods, and communities.
Pick up a Prayer Walk Guide at the Information Centre (or listed below) and take 15–20 minutes to walk through your neighbourhood, praying God’s peace, hope, and blessing over the homes, schools, and workplaces around you.
This is a beautiful way to:
- Slow down during a busy season
- Be present where God has placed you
- Invite Jesus to move in the lives of your neighbours
- Unite our whole church in prayer—spread throughout the city
Whether you go alone, with a friend, or with your whole family, we believe God will use this simple step of obedience to make a real impact.
Let’s fill our city with prayer this Christmas.
Pick up your guide this Sunday (or follow along below) and take a walk with Jesus in your community.

PRAYER WALK GUIDE
1. What is a Prayer Walk?
A prayer walk is simply praying while you walk through your neighbourhood or community. It’s about inviting God’s presence, blessing, and peace over the places and people around you - homes, schools, workplaces, parks, and streets.
2. Preparation
- Pray – Ask God to guide your thoughts and give you compassion for your neighbours.
- Check your heart – Go with humility, not to judge but to bless.
- Be spiritually aware – Expect God to show you things to pray for as you walk.
- Choose your route: Start with your own street or a familiar area. Or ask Jesus if there is a place in your community He is inviting you to walk and pray. (A 15-20 minute walk is a good place to start.)
- Go alone, with others, or your family: Two or three people together often works well.
- Practical tips: Dress for the weather, stay aware of traffic, and be respectful of privacy.
3. Walk and Pray
As you walk, pray for what you see and sense from the Holy Spirit.
- Pray for families, marriages, and relationships.
- Ask for peace, provision, and faith to grow in each home.
- Pray that people find a relationship with Jesus.
- That God would open them up to attending Christmas Eve or connect them with a church of His choosing.
- Pray for safety, learning, and encouragement for students and teachers.
- Pray for integrity, creativity, peace, and unity in businesses.
- Pray for city leaders, police, firefighters, and healthcare workers.
- Ask for justice, compassion, and unity in decision-making.
4. Be Attentive
- If you notice a particular house, person, or need — pause and lift it quietly to God.
- Listen for gentle nudges or impressions (e.g., “pray for hope here,” “pray for families,” etc.).
- Keep it natural; you don’t have to stop and close your eyes — you can pray silently or softly as you move.
- As you walk you can ask Jesus questions like:
- What are You praying for this place, right now? Who are You moving in here? What are the barriers to Your work here? What are the barriers to Your work here?
- Ask for a name of someone in the area that you can pray for (even if you don’t know them).
5. Reflect
When you finish:
- Did anything stand out to you? Take note if there are any needs or areas to revisit in prayer.
- If walking in a group, take a few minutes to share what each person noticed.
- Thank God for your neighbourhood and for what He’s doing there.
6. Keep It Going
Prayer walking can become a rhythm. Consider if Jesus is inviting you to do a prayer walk weekly, monthly.
